Super Anti-Oxidant Juice

This recipe was put together by our in house juicing expert which is a favourite now.

Organic Maple Syrup Benefits:

Despite the fact that maple syrup contains a lot of sucrose, there has been research that shows it can still be quite safe or even beneficial for those with Type 2 diabetes. This is due to the natural phenols that are also found in the syrup. These substances have been revealed to have antioxidant properties. Maple syrup phenols in particular seem to inhibit two types of enzymes that are associated with occurrence of the said illness.

The trace minerals found in maple syrup are zinc and manganese and these are compounds that significantly contribute to your immune system. A deficiency in zinc for example may lead to a lower count of white blood cells. Manganese meanwhile is an important component of an enzyme called superoxide dismutase which inhibits free radicals. This mineral thus boosts your body’s antioxidant defense.

Zinc is also closely related to male reproductive health. The trace mineral is highly concentrated in the prostrate and low levels have been known to increase the risk of prostrate cancer.

Organic Maple Syrup Risks:

Sucrose in and of itself is not a dangerous substance. Sugars after all are important carbohydrate fuel that your body needs to burn especially during intense physical activity. Excessive use is what actually causes the problem. Given the composition of organic maple syrup, moderate use of this sweetener is likely the prudent choice to make.

The syrup is comparatively safer as it has a lower glycemic index of 54. The presence of natural phenols can also be a mitigating factor. Nevertheless if you already have higher than normal blood sugar you need to consult with a medical professional on how to safely add maple syrup to your diet.

Health Benefits of Pine Nuts:

pine nuts contain many of the same healthy nutrients as other nuts, including healthy monounsaturated fats and antioxidants

  • Suppress the appetite
  • Boost energy
  • Reduce heart disease risk
  • Anti-Aging antioxidant
  • Vision Health

they are an excellent source of Vitamin E. Furthermore, pine nuts contain healthy amounts of essential minerals like manganese, potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc and selenium

Aloe vera gel speeds wound healing.

Milk thistle, a plant in the daisy family, is native to the Mediterranean region, North Africa and the Middle East. The seeds of milk thistle contain an active compound called silymarin that has been widely studied for its purported health benefits. Aloe vera is a tropical succulent plant also native to North Africa, whose leaves produce a gel-like fluid with numerous practical and health uses.

Milk Thistle and Liver Health

Milk thistle may help with a variety of liver ailments, including chronic hepatitis and alcohol damage, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. A laboratory animal study published in the October 2006 issue of the “Indian Journal of Biochemistry and Biophysics” found that milk thistle showed significant liver-protective benefits against alcohol-induced damage. Milk thistle extract substantially increased levels of the antioxidants superoxide dismutatse and glutathione. However, researchers noted that vitamin C was more effective than milk thistle extract. Milk thistle supplementation was also less effective than the preventive effects of avoiding excessive alcohol intake.

Milk Thistle and Cancer

Anticancer benefits of milk thistle may include inhibiting cancer cells from reproducing, causing early cell death and inhibiting blood supply to growing tumors. A study published in the September 2012 issue of the “International Journal of Oncology” found that the milk thistle compound silibinin protected against colon cancer in laboratory animals. In the seven-week study, milk thistle shortened the life of cancer cells and decreased inflammation in the lining of the colon, resulting in half the number of cancerous cells. Researchers concluded that milk thistle may offer benefits as a natural method for colon cancer prevention.

Aloe Vera and Wound Healing

Aloe vera helps speed wound healing from hemorrhoid surgery, according to New York University’s Langone Medical Center. A study published in the 2012 issue of the “Australasian Medical Journal” found that aloe vera gel improved healing of leg ulcers caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Aloe was effective at inhibiting bacterial growth completely within 11 days in 93 percent of study participants. Aloe also shows promise for healing diabetic skin wounds, according to a laboratory animal study published in the June 2012 issue of the journal “Biomedical Materials.” In the study, aloe gel reduced the size of skin wounds within seven days.

Aloe Vera and Blood Sugar

Drinking aloe vera juice may help stabilize blood sugar levels and decrease your risk for developing diabetes, according to a study on laboratory animals published in the June 2012 issue of the journal “Immune Network.” Supplementation with aloe juice for 54 days resulted in decreased body weight, lower fasting blood sugar levels and improved insulin sensitivity. Further studies are warranted to confirm these preliminary results before aloe vera juice can be recommended for blood sugar management in humans.
